PETALING JAYA: A teenager is being sought by police to help in the investigations into a brazen armed robbery in Ara Damansara, which was caught on video and went viral on social media.
OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Zani Che Din said police need Muhammad Nur Aman Ibrahim, 17, from Taman Desa Ria, to come forward to assist them.
In the footage (there were two clips) that have gone viral on Malaysian social media, a car, a Perodua MyVi, can be seen pulling over at the entrance guarded by a boom gate. A woman then talks to someone, presumably the security guard, through a rolled down window.
A white car –later learned as a Honda Civic – can also be seen pulling over behind the first blue vehicle. Several seconds later, a man armed with a machete (locally called a ‘parang’) alighted from the white car and started grabbing something from the woman inside.
Apparently the victim put up a fight despite the man’s persistence. Moments later, another woman, obviously in panic, stepped out of the blue car and ran. She was chased by the armed robber who tried to grab her bag.
